Since I am a loyal Traktor user and I love the Software I thought about getting the S2 MK3. Question is: Is this a good Idea? And if so, which 2 channel controller shall I buy? The advantage I see is, that I am then using the main Controller only for basic things and still have the knwon environment of my X1 and F1 with my known Workflow. Rekordbox Mapping (I am aware, that Step Sequencer in RB works differently). That way, I can easily bring the X1 and F1 with me to the gigs and either use my Laptop with Traktor (HID when using CDJ's) or use X1 and F1 with e.g. Therefore I thought of buying a simple 2 Channel Controller and adding X1 for Effects (and maybe other functions) and F1 for Remix Decks, Step Sequencer, Sampling (already had one before and I think its awsome). Thing is, that at the events, usually the DDJ-SX is beeing used.

I want to get a controller for practicing at home again. The Controller / Setup, that is usually beeing used for these events is a Pioneer DDJ-SX and Rekordbox or rarely CDJ's with a Mixer. Currently I am usually playing at smaller private Events or semi public raves. I am getting back into Dj'ing after a while. Because of this I don't think home based DJs consider modular controller based set ups as a serious option when they are actually a really budget friendly way to get hardware control of Traktor or whatever software you're using. Also, I think people want / expect to see jogwheels on their hardware, whether they use them or not. There are heaps of Traktor maps for them floating around.įWIW, you don't see set ups like this (modular controllerist setups) very often and I think it's because they're a PITA to take on the road - clubs don't want you coming in with a bunch of extra hardware and trying find somewhere to put it, they just want you to play their CDJs/1200s and get on with it. How useful the F1 would be to somebody learning the craft is debatable, but having it will open up more options later on if you want to use remix decks or more FX units, a sequencer, etc.Īlso consider a pair of Xone K2s if they're cheap in your area - they can be used as a 4 deck controller and a 4 channel mixer, or some columns for FX if you like.
